NEW DELHI: Rakesh Mehta, a 1975-batch IAS officer, was on Friday appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Delhi, superseding 11 other officers.
56-year-old Mehta, who is currently a Principal Secretary in the NCT government and is considered close to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, replaces R Narayanaswamy who retired on Friday.
Mehta has been appointed superseding 11 of his seniors, including MCD Commissioner A K Nigam (1974-batch).
The appointment order was issued by the Union Home Ministry.
