Rain keeps date with Ahmedabad

The monsoon kept its appointed date with the state when on Wednesday, June 15, many areas in the city received isolated showers. Gujarat gets its early seasonal showers in mid-June -- but often the monsoon does not keep its date with the city.

The monsoon kept its appointed date with the state when on Wednesday, June 15, many areas in the city received isolated showers. Gujarat gets its early seasonal showers in mid-June -- but often the monsoon does not keep its date with the city.

On Wednesday however, after a hot and windy afternoon, a few areas in the city received welcome showers and the mercury level plummeted.

A cool breeze replaced the sweltering heat in many areas of the city and the meteorological department's forecast for June 15 held true. The department had forecast that there were chances of rain or thundershowers towards evening or night. The same conditions are expected to continue on June 16 too.

There were showers on SG Highway near Sarkhej, but Bopal was dry. Many people who wanted to see the longest moon eclipse were disturbed by the scattered rains and the cloudy atmosphere.
Parts of Saurashtra, south Gujarat and a few places in north Gujarat received heavy to moderate rain last week.
