Raid on ‘couple rooms’ in Ahmedabad brings traffic to a halt

Police raided one Drishti Refreshments in Ellisbridge, where couples were allegedly found in a compromising position.

Thirty one couples were caught from the ‘couple room’ of one Drishti Refreshments in Park Avenue near Parimal Garden in Ellisbridge area following a raid by the DG-vigilance department.

The raid was conducted early in the evening on Monday.
The police caught the couples who were allegedly found in a compromising position.

As news of the raid spread, a crowd gathered to get a dekko at the couples. "The crowd of onlookers began commenting on the couples as they were taken to the police van," a police source said. Thanks to the onlookers, the trafficin the area was held up for almost two hours.

Talking to DNA, police inspector, Director General of Police, Vigilance Department, KM Kapadia said that the raid was carried out after they received a complaint regarding the same. The raid was conducted by Kapadia and another police inspector from the department RM Solanki.

Kapadia said that the couples were in the age group of 25 to 35 years. He said that the area had been known for its ‘couple room’ but recently the nuisance had increased considerably. The police are on the lookout for the owner of the property Vipul Shah.
