Rahul Sharma gives proof that he was called by Ramchandra to CAT

IPS officer Rahul Sharma has submitted proof before the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), regarding his claim that he was summoned by Supreme Court amicus curie in the post-Godhra riot cases, Raju Ramchandran, during his visit to state in June.

Sharma had approached the CAT in September this year challenging Gujarat government's charge sheet against him served on August 13, alleging him of misconduct under Sec 3(1) of All India Service Rules 1969.

He had contended that it was only after he deposed before Ramchandran, the state government had charge-sheeted him in connection with the CDs containing mobile phone records during the 2002 riots period.

Sharma's advocate KG Pillai last week submitted the documentary proof showing that Ramchandran had summoned his client during his visit in June this year.

Ramchandran had visited Gujarat after he was asked by the Supreme Court to comment on report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing some of the post-Godhra riot cases.

According to case details, Sharma has been accused by government of not submitting the original CDs containing mobile phone call records related to 2002 communal riots to the respective investigating officers of riot cases or to his supervisory officers.
