A confluence of radiologists is going to take place in Ahmedabad. The Indian Radiology and Imaging Center (IRIC) is organising its 63rd national conference at Karnavati Club from January 23, where around 4,000 delegates from world-over are expected to participate.

The three-day conference will be attended by doctors from all fields, but mainly from radiology. According to doctors, the conference will benefit local doctors in sharpening their skills which will ultimately benefit the patients.

The theme of the conference is 'research to realty'. Organising chairman of the conference, Dr Harshad Shah said "The motto of the conference is to promote tele-radiology services in rural areas as well as to overseas countries."

"This will also provide a common platform for radiologists and students from sub-specialties to come together and share their knowledge and views," Shah told mediapersons on Wednesday.
The delegates participating in the conference are also going to present scientific papers and hold workshops which will be topic specific. It will include clinical discussions on topics like CT scan, breast imaging, interventional radiology, foetal imaging, colour doppler, advance neuro-imaging and PET-CT among others.

Chairman of scientific committee Dr Hemant Patel said, "Gujarat has around 650 radiologists of which 270 are in Ahmedabad alone, and 100-odd are in rural areas. As of now the requirement in the state is for 2,000 radiologists."

Therefore, in such conditions tele-radiology is the best option available for reaching remotest areas not only in the state but any part of the globe, added Patel.

Around 4,000 delegates who will participate in the seminar will be taking an oath not to disclose the sex of the fetus as part of save-the-girl-child campaign.
