Punjab to increase house grant for SCs

The Punjab government will increase the grant for construction of houses for Scheduled Castes families from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000.

Announcing this here today, minister for welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward classes Gulzar Singh Ranike said that an amount of Rs two crore has been earmarked for this purpose in the budget.

Rs 20,000 would be provided for converting Kachha house into Pucca house.
    
The minister said that the government has also decided to increase the grant for renovation of dilapidated houses from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000.

The government would also provide 10 Marla plots free of cost to SC families for constuction of houses.
