Family members of Shweta Dhaval Oswal (26) had the courage to stand up amidst numbing grief and remember their social duty. The family took the decision to donate Shweta’s eyes post her death in the joyride of death of Santosh Mane, which took Pune by storm on Wednesday.
Shweta, was one of the 8 people, who met their end, under the wheels of the ill fated state transport (ST) bus.
A resident of Kalyan Society, Timber Market Road, Shweta was married four years ago and her husband Dhaval runs a steel and utensils business.
Pravin Jain, Shweta’s brother-in-law said, “It was Shweta’s husband Dhaval’s wish to donate her eyes. Hence, we donated her eyes to the eye bank of Jehangir Hospital at 4.30 pm.’’
Shweta, (26) a housewife, who was injured in the freak bus accident, succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday afternoon. She was hit by the bus near Vega Centre next to Swargate bus stand. She was shifted to ICU in Jehangir Hospital and also underwent a surgery. But she was declared dead around 2 pm.
