Pune hostelites leave for hometowns

Outstation students in Pune residing at hostels or in apartments have either left the city or have been asked to do so by hostel authorities as a precautionary measure.

Outstation students in Pune residing at hostels or in apartments have either left the city or have been asked to do so by  hostel authorities as a precautionary measure.

While the Sir Parshurambhau College and hostel has been closed for the next one week as one of its students was detected with Influenza A H1N1 on Saturday morning, other college hostels which have seen students leave for their hometown include those of ILS Law College, Fergusson and Symbiosis among others.

Speaking to DNA, SP College principal Dilip Sheth said that all hostelites were instructed to leave the hostel and the college campus and to return to their native place for the next few days as the precautionary measures.

Speaking to DNA, Ravi Dabhade of Fergusson, said, “I have planned to leave for my hometown Beed but I am waiting for my practicals to get over.”

Patna: Bihar’s first suspected case of swine flu was reported from Aurangabad town. Mohd Zubair, a resident of Pathantoli in Aurangabad,  had returned from Singapore two months ago and showed symptoms of swine flu. He was referred to Patna Medical College. 

Puri: On high-alert due to  high tourist traffic
Bhubaneswar: No fresh case of swine-flu was reported today. However, the government has alerted the Puri District administration to keep vigil on the many foreign tourists for whom special arrangements have been made. Most tourists visit Puri fors the sea beach and Lord Jagannath temple.

Coimbatore: Two, including 10-year-old test positive
Coimbatore: Two persons, including a 10-year-old girl, have tested positive for swine flu, government hospital sources said on Saturday. The test reports of the girl, a Class sixth student, received from King Institute in Chennai, confirmed flu. She has been quarantined at her house.

Gujarat: NRI couple tests positive on returning
Gujarat: An NRI couple, who arrived in Ahmedabad from Atlanta, US, tested positive for swine flu on Saturday, the health officials in Gujarat said. “The couple was admitted to the  hospital and were tested for swine flu and the test results were positive,” Health Secretary Ravi Saxena said.
