Scores of women today staged a demonstration in front of former Andhra governor ND Tiwari's residence here and burnt his effigy in the wake of the alleged sex scandal.

The women, belonging to Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra (RLEK), a Dehra Dun-based NGO, gathered this morning at the main gates of the Forest Research Institute (FRI) which houses the palatial bungalow of Tiwari and asked the authorities to remove the belongings of veteran Congress leader.

Tiwari was allotted the furnished house inside the FRI campus soon after he completed the five year tenure of chief minister of Uttarakhand in 2007.

Tiwari continued to occupy the house at FRI. Some of the women managed to enter inside the FRI campus and staged slogans against Tiwari despite tight police security arrangements.

They also protested against the Forest authorities' decision to allot the house to the Congress leader, who was chief ministers of both Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

RLEK chairperson Avadhash Kaushal also called for a CBI probe into the alleged sex scandal saying "mere resignation of Tiwari on health grounds" would not solve the puzzle.

Kaushal said also called for a separate judicial probe to inquire into various alleged sex scandals in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

"Let the CBI probe the Andhra Pradesh Raj Bhavan sex scandal. But in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, there should be a separate judicial inquiry to unearth various sex scandals surrounding Tiwari," Kaushal said.
