Around 250 people today blocked traffic and pelted stones at police and vehicles in east Delhi to protest against water shortage in their locality for the past ten days.
 
Locals of Kondli village hit the streets and blocked traffic on Kondli bridge for about two hours during the protest.
 
When police tried to disperse them, protestors indulged in violence. Seven policemen were injured in the incident and two buses and two motorcycles were damaged in the protest.
 
"They pelted stones at some vehicles and police. We have taken some protestors into custody," a senior police official said.
 
Locals claimed they had petitioned the authorities about water shortage in their locality for the past few days.
