A group of prominent activists have sought protection and justice for RTI activist Ketan Shah, who is on an indefinite fast in Valsad.

Ketan Shah, an RTI activist from Valsad, is on an indefinite fast outside Valsad Municipality since Friday demanding justice. Shah has exposed various cases of corruption in the municipality. The municipality authorities, who were exposed by Shah, retaliated by demolishing his shop and destroying his business.

In a letter to chief minister Narendra Modi, activists Mallika Sarabhai and Arvind Kejriwal of NGO, For India Against Corruption, demanded action against the corrupt and redressal of the wrongs done to Shah.

"In the spirit of your admiration for anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, we call upon you to take steps to punish the corrupt," they said.

Activists Bharatsinh Jhala, Heman Trivedi, Ashishsingh Chauhan, Gaurang Raval and Vinod Pandya have also written to the CM seeking steps to provide justice to Shah.

"In order to make Gujarat corruption free, we request you to provide justice to Shah," they said.

The activists said that already an attempt to kill Shah had been made since he started his protest. They warned that the CM would be entirely responsible if anything happened to Shah.
