President Pratibha Patil today condoled the death of chief editor of Malayala Manorama daily KM Mathew, describing him as a "dynamic and visionary journalist".

"We have lost a hardworking, dynamic and visionary journalist who made Malayala Manorama a major Indian language daily," the president said in a message.

Mathew, who was a former chairman of Press Trust of India, passed away in Kottayam this morning at the age of 93.

He had played a key role in making Malayala Manorama one of the major Indian language dailies after he took over the reins of the media house a few decades ago.
