A 34-year old pregnant woman has knocked on the doors of the Gujarat high court to help find her husband who has been missing for seven months. He went missing from the Vadaj area of the city.

The woman has sought the court's help after attempts by the police to trace her husband failed to yield any results. Interestingly, the woman has alleged that her husband has been abducted by another woman who had tried to extort money from him.

According to the case details, Chintan Parekh, a resident of Vadaj, went missing on March 10, 2009. After trying to search for him for two days, Chintan's wife Rupa lodged a complaint with the Sabarmati police station.  However the police too failed to trace him.
"The high court has issued notices to the police commissioner, police inspector of Sabarmati police station and others after we filed a habeas corpus writ petition," said Dipak Sindhi, counsel for Rupa. "We suspect that a woman named Meena had abducted Chintan to extort money from him," Sindhi said.

According to the petition, Chintan married Rupa in 1992. The couple has two daughters aged 14 and seven. Chintan worked as a visa consultant. On March 10 this year, Chintan left his home and has not returned since. The petition further said, during the first week of March, Chintan  remained very tensed.

When questioned he apparently told Rupa that a woman named Meena, a resident of Ranip, was trying to extort money from him.
