Irked by Congress MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's open defiance by going ahead with his yatra in trouble-torn Telangana region, Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee today hinted that the party would take action against him.

"Whatever appropriate action is necessary will be taken in due course. But I hope he will no longer resort to the yatra",  Mukherjee, who urged Jagan to stop his consolation tour, told reporters.

Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of former Andhra Pradesh
chief minister late YS Rajasekahara Reddy, embarrassed the
Congress leadership by going ahead with his yatra despite the
party bluntly telling him not to go ahead with it.

"If somebody flouts directions or instructions of the party or party leaders, as per party procedure, action will be taken against them", Mukherjee said, responding to queries in Bangalore on what action Congress contemplated against Reddy.

Mukherjee, who was here to attend a function organised by
the IT department, expressed displeasure over Jagan defying
advice by the party high command and also of Union law
minister M Veerappa Moily to call off the yatra.

"Everybody is expected to obey the party discipline and the orders given to him or her by the party," he said.

Earlier speaking to reporters at Gulbarga, where he laid the foundation stone for ESIC Medical Complex, Mukherjee said
"As a Congressman, he (Jagan) should respond to the suggestions of the party and should stop his yatra without any
delay".

On the continuing Maoist attack on civilians, he said the government planned to provide additional security forces to
check the menace.

Mukherjee said home minister P Chidambaram has time and
again given a call to Naxals to come for talks by denouncing
violence, but they have not responded to it.
