Tulsi Prajapati would not have died had he kept his mouth shut while being lodged in the Udaipur Jail in mid November 2006. His revelation to Azam Khan, a fellow inmate, that he would teach Gujarat police a lesson for the killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh was his undoing.

Unknown to Prajapati, an informer planted by Abhay Chudasama in the same jail also came to know of his plans. This was revealed by Khan during his questioning by the CBI. He further told the CBI that Chudasama along with DG Vanzara and Rajkumar Pandiyan, then posted in ATS Gujarat, believed that it would be difficult to keep Prajapati silent for long.

A few days later Prajapati was killed in an encounter, Khan told CBI. Khan is an important witness in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case. He has apparently revealed to the agency the link between Sohrabuddin and Prajapati encounters. CBI is trying to know about Chudasama's role in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case and has stumbled upon information that links him to the Prajapati case.

Ahmed Jabbir, an alleged informer and very close aide of Chudasama was lodged in the Udaipur Jail at the same time as Prajapati. Khan in his statement said that Jabbir was planted there by Chudasama and it was he who told the cops about Prajapati's threat. Khan said he warned Prajapati to be careful about what he said, but the latter was too angry to be bothered.

Jabbir, who belongs to Himmatnagar, was in Udaipur jail in connection with some 25 to 30 different theft cases. Few days after Prajapati made the threat, he was taken to Ahmedabad along with Khan. Then Prajapati was killed in an alleged fake encounter.
Khan told CBI that when Prajapati was taken to Ahmedabad he was also threatened by DG Vanzara to keep his mouth shut or end up like Sohrabuddin and Kausarbi. Khan in his statement said that the cops even promised to shell out all the court expense for Prajapati.
