The JMFC court in Danta in Banaskantha has asked the CBI to file a reply in connection with an application submitted by CID (Crime) seeking the custody of suspended IPS officer DG Vanzara and suspended DySP NK Amin.

The CID (crime), which is probing the Tulsiram Prajapati encounter case, filed the application in the court two days back. The agency aims to find out the role of Vanzara and Amin in Prajapati case.

Vanzara and Amin are accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case and they are already in jail. The case is now being investigated by the CBI.

Public prosecutor RR Jhalke confirmed the development. Prajapati, a key witness in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, was killed in an encounter near Ambaji in Banaskantha in December 2006.

The CID (Crime) has already arrested several police officials, including IPS officer Vipul Aggarwal, in connection with the Prajapati case.

Vanzara, then DIG (Border Range), was allegedly in constant touch with Aggarwal, then the superintendent of police in Banaskantha, in December 2006 when Prajapati was gunned down. The agency has been busy gathering phone records of Vanzara to find whether Prajapati was killed allegedly at his behest.
