Suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt was again in the news when his posters surfaced in Surendranagar on Monday when chief minister Narendra Modi was to hold his Sadbhavna fast in the town.

Some posters carrying pictures of Bhatt with a poem in Gujarati were seen in Surendranagar town. Bhatt has denied that he had sent the posters with instructions to paste them on billboards, but the district Congress chief had claimed that the posters were sent by the IPS officer ahead of Modi's Sadbhavna fast. The district Congress also held a parallel Satkarm fast in the town on Monday.

"I have heard the news. Many well-wishers have asked me about the posters in Surendranagar but I did not instruct anyone or send any posters to be put up against the Sadbhavna fast by the chief minister," said Bhatt while talking to DNA.

"My pictures and the verse from a poem may have been used by some people to make the poster. Some of my well-wishers have done the same in Mumbai and Delhi," Bhatt added.

Bhatt's posters were found at five or six places, including one at municipality office. They not only surprised everybody but also triggered off a debate on whether the IPS officer was now supporting Congress in a bid to fight Modi. The posters were later removed or torn off by someone.

"Sanjiv Bhatt had given posters to our workers to be put up in the town. The posters were put up at five or six places. They appealed to people to join the Satkarm fast by the Congress," said Bhalji Solanki, Surendranagar district president. But Congress general secretary Manish Doshi denied receiving support from Bhatt.
