Polls 2011: Rs95,000 unaccounted cash seized in Erode

Election officials today seized Rs95,000 unaccounted cash from a DMK member at Rayarpalayam in the district, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off that a man was waiting with a box at a bus stand, flying squad officials rushed there and found Rs95,000 cash in his possession.

Some election booth slips and pamphlets of Erode west constituency Congress candidate were also seized from Raman, 62, the officials said.

They suspect that the money was meant for distribution to voters. A case had been registered.

District collector C Kamaraj and election observer Kanyan Rath visited the spot and grilled Raman.
