Police outpost in Uttar Pradesh set on fire by angry pilgrims

Trouble arose when a group of 'kanwarias', devotees of Lord Shiva were barred by the police from taking a particular road when they were returning from Haridwar.

At least two policemen were injured when an irate mob of pilgrims set a police outpost on fire, after they were barred from taking a particular route at Kairana in the district, officials said today.
 
Deputy superintendent of police SK Shukla today said that a case has been registered in this connection. The two injured policemen were taken to the hospital and the condition of one of them, Omprakash is said to be serious.
 
Trouble arose when a group of 'kanwarias', devotees of Lord Shiva were barred by the police from taking a particular road when they were returning from Haridwar. The pilgrims then attacked policemen and set the outpost on fire. They also damaged police property.
 
However the situation has been brought under control, Shukla said.
