Police nab three bootleggers

The Crime branch officials on Sunday nabbed three bootleggers in connection with the alleged spurious liquor deaths in the city. The arrested bootleggers include Bharatsinh Vaghela, Ratansinh Ray and Dilip Baraiya, all residents of Siadham society near Mahadev Tekra under Ramol police station. The crime branch officials have also seized a bottle of India made foreign (IMF) liquor from their possession.

According to crime branch officials, apart from Pasa, the trio is wanted by the police in several cases registered against them. Vaghela has four cases of prohibition against him, including three at Amraiwadi police station and one at Ahmedabad rural. While Ratansinh Ray has one case of prohibition, and was also booked in a case of attempt to murder by the Bapunagar police.

Earlier, the city commissioner of police had also issued arrest warrant against them; they have been wanted by the police for quite some time now. Earlier, on Sunday, the crime branch officials conducted a series of raids at various hideouts after two more deaths were reported in the alleged spurious liquor case. The bodies, which are yet to be identified, were found on footpaths in the Raikhad area and were brought to the VS hospital on Saturday morning for post-mortem. This apart, four people were admitted to VS hospital on the same day after they complained of deteriorating health condition, allegedly because of the spurious liquor.
