Police detain Jadeja aide for questioning

Sipai was involved in land deals on conman’s behalf.

The CID (crime) has detained Imam Sipai, a close aide of conman Ashok Jadeja, in the multi-crore cheating scam. The police also collected 22 documents related to various land deals which took place in many villages in Kadi taluka in Gandhinagar district. Police also seized a Hyundai Getz car from Sipai.

According to reports, Sipai is close friend of Jadeja and has been residing in Kadi area. He was involved in several deals and used to work on behest of Jadeja. Sources said the police have recovered documents related to 165 bigha land near various villages in Kadi taluka. The CID had been looking for Sipai for about a week and nabbed him on Sunday morning from outskirts of Kadi town.

Shaitansinh, another close aide of Jadeja, had introduced Sipai to Jadeja in 2006. Police is investigating the role of Sipai in the case, said the sources. According to the primary details, Sipai bought lands on behest of Jadeja in the names of his family members. The land plots are mainly located in Govindpur, Jetalpur, Meghad, Kadjari and Della villages.

Investigating officer RK Patel said, "We have unearthed 21 property deals worth Rs11 crore by Jadeja and found documents related to 150 bigha land."

A chartered accountant firm has been assigned the task to verify the accounts and other documents in the case.
