Police constable shot at in Mehsana

A police constable was shot at by an unknown person when he stopped a car and tried to check it during routine petrolling near Kherpur village of Kadi taluk of the district today, police said.

A police constable was shot at by an unknown person when he stopped a car and tried to check it during routine petrolling near Kherpur village of Kadi taluk of the district today, police said.

The incident took place when constable Laxman Rabari stopped a car for checking near Kherpur village today early morning, they said.

According to police, when Rabari asked the car driver to open the vehicle for checking, he resisted and started arguing.

While the argument was on, the driver took out a gun and shot at the policeman, they said.

Rabari was shot in the jaw area and has been admitted to government hospital in Mehsana city, police added.

A case has been registered against an unknown person in the Kadi police station and efforts were on to nab the miscreant who shot the cop, police said.
