Police bust cricket betting racket in Ahmedabad, arrest nine

A team comprising ACP VR Toliya, Satellite police station PI MH Vasani, busted a cricket betting racket near Shyamal crossroads on Friday night.

According to a source in the police, the team acted on a tip off and raided the house of one KB Shah in Shivam society. It seized laptop, a television set and LCD worth Rs1.75 lakh.

The source said that the accused were betting on the England Vs Australia match. The police have arrested nine people, all belonging to influential families, in connection with the case. “So far, we have arrested nine people. They have been betting on matches for a long time now. Investigation in the matter is on,” Vasani told DNA.
