Police arrests jilted lover in Orissa for throwing acid

Mishra of Canal Street area allegedly threw acid on Sagmita Senapati of Laxmi Street of Bijipur in the premises of the Nilakantheswar temple and fled the spot after committing the crime.

Police arrested a jilted lover, who allegedly threw acid on a 27-year-old woman yesterday.

Giri Mishra was caught by the local youths at Gandhinagar area and was handed over to the police last evening.

Mishra of Canal Street area allegedly threw acid on Sagmita Senapati of Laxmi Street of Bijipur here in the crowded premises of the Nilakantheswar temple and fled the spot after committing the crime.

Meanwhile, the condition of the girl, who is undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, is stated to be out of danger, medical sources said.

The girl sustained burn injuries on her face, head and chest, the sources said.
