Former BJP leader KN Govindacharya today favoured bringing the Prime Minister's office (PMO) under the ambit of the Lokpal Bill and asked all parties to unite when it came to upholding values.

"Though members of the draft committee are in a fix on bringing PMO within the ambit of the Lokpal legislation, personally, I feel it should also be covered," Govindacharya told reporters here.

"As the Prime Minister is also a member of the cabinet and there are a number of departments under him, his office should also be covered by the bill," he added.

Demanding that black money deposited in foreign banks should be declared as national asset, Govindacharya said that workers of Rashtravadi Morcha would observe fast across the country on May 10 over the issues of corruption and black money.

The leader, who is convener of the morcha, said that he would observe fast at Julelalpark in Lucknow. On being asked whether he would take any support from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is emphasising on good governance, Govindacharya said,"Rahul should first remove shortcomings in his party. I have full sympathy with him and he is heading forward despite all odds."

He said that the main objective of the morcha was to bring Indian politics back on the track of values and issues.

Political and electoral reforms are more important than electoral victory, he said. Govindacharya said that the morcha, which comprises 17 parties including Bhartiya Janshakti Party, Loksatta Dal and
Krantikari Janata Party, has no support of the RSS.

He said in the last 20 years expectation of the people from the government in Uttar Pradesh remained unfulfilled and they were searching for an alternative.

The former BJP leader said that the morcha would give a message to the people that a responsible opposition has more importance than an irresponisble government.
