Congress today refused to comment on reports that telecom minister A Raja, facing allegations of corruption, could be dropped in the next cabinet expansion, merely saying that it is the prime minister's prerogative.

"It is the prime minister's prerogative to drop or induct any minister," party spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed said when
asked whether there is any possibility of such an eventuality.

Ahmed also deflected a query on whether the party is happy with the performance of Raja saying, "It is not a question of Congress being happy or unhappy with Raja's performance."

"The prime minister had said unless the probe is completed, it would not be appropriate for him to say something in favour or against (Raja). That is also the party's stand," he added.

Ahmed also refused to comment on conflicting statements from Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy and AICC in-charge for Andhra
Pradesh M Veerappa Moily over continuance of the former's tour
of Telangana region, saying it is for them to explain it.

On UPA's report card, Ahmed said that the government has repeated its resolve to work for the betterment of the common man and the party is hopeful that UPA-II will take more steps for the people in the coming years.
