Paswan to seek alliance with regional parties on Purvanchal

Lok Janshakti Party today said that it would seek alliance from regional parties like Peace Party and Bhartiya Samaj Party to strengthen the issue of a separate Purvanchal state.

Speaking to reporters, Paswan said, "Separate statehood is necessary for speedy development of 27 districts of eastern UP."

Citing the examples of Jharkhand and Uttarakhand, he said that he was of the opinion that development goals are easily achieved in smaller states.

On the issue of forming the government in Jharkhand, he said that he was in favour of Shibu Soren as chief minister, as his party has won on 18 seats in the Assembly polls.
