Demanding a CBI probe into the alleged police excesses leading to the death of a student during protests against some coaching centres here, LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan today accused Nitish Kumar government of being hand-in-glove with the education mafia in Bihar.

The Centre should sack the Bihar government if it fails to recommend a CBI investigation into the alleged police excesses that led to the killing of Sachin Sharma and leaving several others injured, Paswan said.

Alleging the entire education system was in the hands of the education mafia and the government had little control over the system, Paswan said instead of initiating action against owners of coaching institutes, the state used coercive measures to suppress the students protest.

Paswan said the chief minister, who claims himself to be the product of 1974 students' movement, should resign owning moral responsibility.

The compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh announced by Kumar to
the next of kin of Sachin was only rubbing salt on injuries, the LJP leader said, adding "please give us back Sachin alive."

Paswan said the LJP student wing and Dalit Student Federation would organise protests tomorrow over the issue.

The student wing would visit all the universities across Bihar on February 12 carrying the urn of Sachin Sharma and ask students to launch a 1974-like movement to overthrow the NDA government headed by Kumar "who is behaving like a dictator".

The party also gave a shut-down call of univierities and colleges in the state on February 15 and termed the announcment of Kumar to bring a new legislation to rein in truant coaching institutes as an "eye-wash".
