Parliamentarians hail confirmation of death penalty to Ajmal Kasab

Welcoming the confirmation of death penalty to 26/11 convict Ajmal Kasab by the Bombay high court, union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said the "culprit has been properly booked."
     
"Whatever maximum punishment is available under the law...has been awarded," he told reporters outside Parliament.
     
Deshmukh was the chief minister of Maharashtra when the 26/11 terror attack took place.
     
He also expressed his sympathies for the families of the victims.
     
The high court upheld the death sentence of Pakistani terrorist Kasab for his involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack that left 166 dead.
     
On Pakistan's role in tackling terror, the former chief minister said, "They do too little too late".
     
"Pakistan should do more. It should be visible. Unless and until they take some action, people of India will not be happy," he further said.
     
NCP MP Supriya Sule also welcomed the high court verdict. "Definitely, we welcome the judgement. It is a long overdue judgement. Further proceedings should be in the fast track."
     
Union minister Salman Khurshid said, "I hope this proves as deterrence against those who has devil design against our country."
