The Rajya Sabha adjourned for the day and the Lok Sabha till 2pm after an uproar over illegal mining and the nuclear liability bill.
Parliament was today adjourned after ruckus over demand by BSP for dismissal of Karnataka government following allegations of illegal mining in the state and RJD claims of a deal between the government and main opposition BJP in Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
As soon as the Lok Sabha met for the day, BSP members trooped into the well waving placards demanding dismissal of the BJP-led government in Karnataka.
Mulayam Singh Yadav (SP) and Lalu Prasad (RJD) waved copies of a newspaper carrying reports related to the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
Yadav and Prasad claimed that BJP and Congress have struck a deal as per which a key witness in the Soharabuddin fake encounter case has retracted his statement on the role of Gujarat police in alleged extortion rackets in the state.
The two leaders were seen waving copies of the Ahmedabad edition of a newspaper which was strongly objected to by speaker Meira Kumar.
BSP members were in the well demanding the sack of the Karnataka government on allegations of illegal mining against some of the ministers in the state.
As the uproar continued, Kumar adjourned the proceedings till noon.
In the Rajya Sabha, the trouble began soon after the House met with Satish Mishra (BSP) stating that his party has given a notice for suspension of the question hour so that the issue of illegal mining of iron ore in Karnataka can be taken up.
When chairman Hamid Ansari wanted to take up question hour, BSP members carrying banners moved in the aisles and started raising slogans demanding dismissal of the BJP-led government there for allegedly allowing illegal mining.
"This is question hour...no display of banners please," Ansari said.
RJD members alleged that BJP and Congress had struck a deal in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
"Please go back to your places," Ansari said. "This is question hour... don't disrupt question hour."
Similar scenes were witnessed when the house reassembled with BSP members raising slogans seeking dismissal of the Karnataka government.
RJD members also raised the Gujarat fake encounter case.
"Please allow the question hour to run," Ansari pleaded with the members who were unrelenting.
