A Delhi court today handed over the custody of a suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militant from Pakistan to the Jammu & Kashmir police as he was wanted in a case relating to the killing of 15 people there.

Chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Yadav allowed an application filed by Jammu & Kashmir police officer SD Singh seeking transit remand of Abdullah Inquilabi for his production in a sessions court in Rajouri district.

The court granted three-day transit remand of the accused.

Inquilabi, a self-styled divisional commander of the outfit in Rajouri, was produced before the court at the end of 14 days custodial interrogation by the Delhi police's special cell.

He was apprehended by the police on November 14 from Deer Park near IIT in the national capital soon after he alighted from a bus. He was alleged to have stayed in the country for the past 10 years without valid documents.

While he was still in police custody, he was taken to Jammu & Kashmir where he allegedly helped recover an AK-57 rifle, a hand grenade, 120 rounds of bullets from his hideout.

The Jammu & Kashmir police secured his remand in the case registered with Budhal police station in Rajouri district for the killings of 12 civilians and three police men.

Inquilabi hailed from Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and worked for Hizbul Mujahideen.
