Pakistani flag burnt by Shiv Sena in the Punjab

Shiv Sena activists today burnt Pakistan's national flag on its Independence Day in protest against what they termed as its continued support to terrorist activities against India.

A protest march was taken out by Sena activists from Hanuman Garhi Mandir to Sugar Mill Chowk on NH 1, where a demonstration and a rally were held during which they burnt the Pakistani flag, the outfit's Punjab unit vice-president Inderjit Karwal said.

They also criticised the Indian government for its "soft" approach towards Pakistan's continued support to anti-India terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir and from across the border.

"It was ironical that the Amarnath yatra had to be carried under the shadow of guns on our own land which speaks volumes about India's soft policy towards terrorists and their exporters like Pakistan," Karwal said.

Maintaining that this policy had a demoralising effect on the security forces, Sena leaders demanded that shoot-at-sight orders be issued against all those pursuing treacherous activities in J&K for restoration of lasting peace in the state.
