In sharp contrast to the Pakistan’s policy towards India that seeks resolution of political issues before talking business, the government has decided to expand trade with India by allowing import of seven more items, taking the tally to over 1,945 goods.

The new items in the import list include tools for tapping threads, plants and machinery for extraction and refining of rice barn oil, laboratory testing equipment for pharmaceutical industry along with their accessories and spare parts, air brake equipment and spares for railways locomotives, laboratory glassware of all sorts, methylisoxazole-sutlhamoyl-acetamide — a chemical for pharmaceutical industry and cotton waste.

Pakistan has been gradually improving trade ties with India. It expanded the importable items list from 773 in July 2006 to 1934 items in March 2009.
