Home minister P Chidambaram, who is the boss of police forces providing security blanket for the Commonwealth Games, today said he has not received an accreditation card yet for the sporting event.

"I don't have the accreditation card yet," he told reporters when asked whether he has any plan to visit the Games venues and village.

Chidambaram made it clear that full security will be provided within and outside the stadia for the successful completion of the fortnight-long sporting extravaganza beginning October 3.

The home minister said there are 12 Games venues, including a street venue (in Noida) for the cycling competitions.

"Of the remaining 11 venues, 10 were handed over to security personnel for lockdown and one will be handed over today. The Games village will be handed over today or may has been handed over today," he said.

Asked about plans of protests by some groups, Chidambaram said "I am sure those protesters also have the interests and fair name of India at heart. And I am sure they will not do anything to disturb the games".
