Overnight rainfall brings mercury down in Delhi

Some parts of the national capital received overnight rainfall, bringing the temperature down but keeping the humidity up.

The capital received 13.3 mm of rainfall since yesterday and humidity remained at a high of 89%.

The maximum temperature fell two notches below normal, and was recorded at 32.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum, however, was two degrees above normal at 26.6 degree C. 

The month of September has been wet so far. While the capital received as much as 47.2 mm of rainfall between Sunday and Monday, another 18 mm was recorded between Monday and
Tuesday.

The Indian Meteorological Department in its weekly forecast for the period from September 4 to September 10 has said that fairly widespread rainfall is expected over Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during the first half of the week, and is expected to decrease thereafter.

It said the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon, which normally begins on September 1 is also not expected to commence till the middle of September.
