The online community has launched a campaign to seek justice for Nadia Torrado, the Goa woman whose alleged suicide had led to the resignation of NCP leader Fransisco Mickey Pacheco as Tourism Minister last month.

The 28-year-old's death is 'a classic case of money, power and dirty politics', reads the theme of the campaign run on popular social networking website, Facebook.

"In the murky world of greed and revenge, her death will become yet another name on a piece of paper," Savio Rodrigues, a netizen who started the campaign, told PTI today.

The campaign, which began on June 18, has enlisted 775 supporters in just a fortnight.

Torrado, a "close friend" of Pacheco, died on May 30, after allegedly consuming rat poison. Crime Branch has booked Pacheco, who is on the run since early last month, and his close aide Lyndon Monteiro in the case.

"We invited people to join the campaign and we have received tremendous support for the campaign," Rodrigues, who owns Media Investment firm, said.

Interestingly, the campaigners do not know Torrado personally.

"I don't know Nadia personally. But the aim of the campaign is to find out truth behind the incident and secure justice for Nadia. We want to ensure that something like this does not happen in Goa again," he said.
