One dead, two cops injured in clash in Assam

A protestor died on the spot and two policemen were injured in a clash during distribution of BPL rice card in Mangaldoi town in lower Assam today.

Official sources said the police resorted to firing after they were unable to control a mob which had gathered to collect BPL card for rice in Dola block.

The district administration officials reached the spot and tried to control the crowd but when they became violent, the police resorted to firing in which one person died.

Two policemen were injured in the clash.

The situation was brought under control as police reinforcements were rushed to the spot.
