Omar Abdullah govt retires 13 corrupt J&K officials

Based on the report by a committee led by the Chief Secretary Madhav Lal, the government on Tuesday issued formal orders to retire 13 officers from services with immediate effect.

Omar Abdullah government has gone whole hog against corrupt officials and forcibly retired 13 top officers for accepting bribes.

Based on the report by a committee led by the Chief Secretary Madhav Lal, the government on Tuesday issued formal orders to retire 13 officers from services with immediate effect.

These officials range from rank of top most engineers to technicians to head masters, belonging to public health engineering (PHE), public works department (PWD), education, finance, power development, forest and rural development departments.

Some of the top officers forced retired include Surinder Singh, incharge executive engineer of economic reconstruction agency of PHE department, Farooq Ahmad incharge executive engineer irrigation division Sumbal, Noor Mohammad Bhat  divisional forest officer, planning & publicity division Srinagar (Forest Department), Md Maqbool Bhat incharge assistant executive engineer Phalgam Development Authority and Khursheed Anwar Shah assistant executive engineer Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana, Ganderbal.

An official spokesperson said the standing committee under the chief secretary is reviewing more cases for premature retirement.
