Oil spill on road causes death of pregnant woman

A pregnant woman met with a tragic end and her husband is in critical condition, all because of oil spilled on a bylane near Astodia road, on Thursday.

Sunita Sharma, 21, was riding pillion with her husband Gaurishankar when the accident occurred.  The couple was on their way home from Iskcon temple on SG Highway. Gaurishankar lost his balance when he skidded on the oil spill and rammed his motorbike into the rear of an AMTS bus.

Sharma fell on one side of the road while his wife was crushed beneath the rear wheel of the bus.  Sunita died on the spot due to severe head injuries. Sharma has been admitted to the VS Hospital.

The couple had been married for nine months and Sunita’s death
has left Sharma in complete shock. The Khadia police have filed a complaint of accidental death and are investigating the matter.

In another incident, a 23-year-old man died after a truck ran over him near the Memco crossroads. According to sources, Bipin Namatiyar was on his bike when a truck which was being recklessly driven smashed into his bike on Thursday morning.

The Sheherkotda police have arrested the driver of the truck, Babu Thakore, and registered a case against him for reckless driving.
