The district health officials have finally geared up measures to control the spread of suspected chikungunia epidemic as well treat patients afflicted from it at the Dungripura village of Savli. A team of officials rushed to the village while visiting every house in the village to check patients’ condition. Not only that the villagers have also come forward and conducted a drive to clean and fill the pits, which are regarded as the major sources of mosquito breeding.

It was a major respite for the poor residents of the Dungripura village when the health officials started offering them treatment at their doorsteps. DNA had reported on the pitiable condition of the villagers, who have till now spent all their savings, on treatment of their family members who have been suffering for more than the last 15 days from the suspected epidemic.

More than 100 people in the village, which is home to 1,600 people, have been suspected of being infected with chikungunia.  The health officials’ treatment includes administering painkiller injections and other drugs to control the fever. The health officials have also undertaken a survey by the primary health workers to know the exact picture of the spread of epidemic. Health officials are also monitoring every affected household.
