Vehicular movement was affected in the national capital this evening as US President Barack Obama criss-crossed the city visiting Humayun's tomb and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence.

Traffic on Sardar Patel Marg, India Gate and Race Course Road bore the brunt of the visit as roads were closed for some time due to Obama's programme, a senior police official said.

The stretch first affected was the route from airport to the US embassy in Chanakyapuri as it was Obama's first destination.

"Both the carriage ways on the route Obama took were closed," a senior police official said.

From the embassy, the Obamas headed to Humayun's tomb from where they returned to ITC Maurya before heading to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's official residence on Race Course Road.

"Today was a Sunday, so there was not much traffic problems," the official said.

As the Air Force One ferrying the US President touched down the airport, security agencies stopped traffic on the airport exit road that passes through Palam technical area.
