Nursing college to be set up in Vadodara

The institute will be ready in two years and will offer courses in BSc ,MSc and PhD (nursing).

A nursing college will be built in the city at a cost of Rs40 crore, Gujarat health minister Jaynarayan Vyas said today.
   
The institute, which will serve as a centre of excellence, will be ready in two years, he said. Talking to reporters after laying its foundation stone at Old Padra Road, Vyas said this will be one of the five top nursing colleges in the country and offer courses in BSc ,MSc and PhD (nursing).
   
"As per a report, the country will need 12.5 lakh nurses by 2025. Hence, the emphasis will be on specialised nursing, including those for heart diseases, gynaecology, neurology, physiotherapy, cancer and infectious diseases," Vyas said.
   
"Specialised courses will also be held to train nursing staff to handle high-tech equipment for diagnosis," Vyas mentioned.
