A web portal will have a database of all party workers and will enable smoother communication.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not expecting only hard work from youth workers but is also facilitating their work by connecting with them using high technology.
The saffron party is running a drive to recruit youths across the state under the Yuva Mitra scheme. What is new is that all cadres will be organised through the party's state-of-the-art internal web portal. In fact, a database of the lakhs of workers will be created.
It is the first time that the party has created such a portal. Now, with a click, leaders can have access to the profile of workers and communicate with them through bulk emails and SMSes.
"The project was discussed last year with top party leaders and now it is ready for use, especially for assembly elections this year," said sources in the party. "The IT wing of the party recently held meetings over the newly launched portal and the senior youth wing leaders were informed about its specifications and benefits," added the sources.
The website has been named 'Yuva Mitra' and it can only be accessed by senior youth leaders of the state and district and designated IT team members.
The important details that can be uploaded on the website are name, address, age, educational qualifications, birth date, mobile number, e-mail address and photo. This information will generate a photo identification card which will be given to each youth who joins the team. The work of data entry will be entrusted to district youth wing leaders.
Workers will get emails and SMSes wishing them on their birthdays.
Bulk SMSes and emails will be sent when the party organises an event or wants to communicate some information to workers.
The youth wing has set a target to recruit 10 lakh youths under Yuva Mitra and more than five lakh have already been recruited in the drive which will continue till the end of this month.
