Businesswomen Committee Gujarat of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, have proposed to develop a women's economic zone in Sanand behind the Nano plant.
It is said, entrepreneurship runs in the blood of Gujaratis. And now Gujarati biz-women too will enjoy the opportunity to reinforce this belief as a dedicated women's economic zone is going to come up near Sanand.
Businesswomen Committee Gujarat of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), along with Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), have proposed to develop a women's economic zone in Sanand behind the Nano plant.
With more than 650 active members, the committee has been making attempts to promote women entrepreneurs of the state and the proposed economic zone is one more step in this direction.
"We have signed 60 MoUs worth more than Rs150 crore at Vibrant Gujarat 2011 and almost 25 more applications have been received from women entrepreneurs for doing business at the proposed women's economic zone," said Deepa Mehta, chairperson, Business Woman Committee, GCCI.
GIDC will provide150 acre of land for the development of the said economic zone. The entire infrastructure for the zone will be made available by GIDC.
GCCI feels that the women entrepreneurs in the state have huge potential but a platform to launch themselves as entrepreneurs does not exist.
Therefore, the organisation is not only trying to provide such a launch-pad to these women but will also extend support and other facilities to them.
Covering businesses of all cadres across the sector, the chamber will scrutinise the genuine applications.
To cover a cross-section of entrepreneurs, the chamber has proposed not to set any limit on investment. "No limit has been fixed for minimum investment at the moment. We will be able to explain the detailed plan only after two to three months," said Mehta.
