This is one move that will definitely get the most number of 'likes'! Gone are the days when citizens had to travel from far to meet the municipal commissioner in person with their complaints.

Now you can just add the civic body chief as your e-friend on Facebook and register all your complaints directly to the Municipal Commissioner of Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner (AMC).

You can also provide your suggestions to him or voice your angst on civic issues disturbing you as AMC chief Guruprasad Mohapatra will launch his special profile to deal with your civic matters.

With the name of 'Commissioneramc', the special profile aims at providing a platform to the citizens to post their views and comments and also register their complaints directly in just a few clicks. Citizens, by just adding the profile as friend, can send their views and suggestions on the special page created for the city.

Speaking to DNA, Mohapatra stated how it will help citizens and AMC. "Through Facebook, the citizens can post their views and comments, while I will get to know about citizens and issues vexing them. This will be much more than just complaining for citizens, but providing a platform for interaction between the citizens and the civic body."

This has come as a blessing for citizens who till now had to wait outside the Commissioner's cabin to present their woes and make representations with their issues. With this, one can directly interact with the administrative head of the civic body.

However, this will require commissioner to take out time from his hectic schedule and surf the social networking site to directly interact with citizens. "This will happen and I will manage to take out time," added Mohapatra.

While, on one hand AMC launched a special profile of commissioner, on the other hand, it has also provided a new look to its website www.egovamc.com. The website after its makeover includes lot of new features and profiles of commissioner of mayor.

"The earlier version of the website was not updated for the last 10 years and hence we thought that it required change and adding of some more features," stated an official of AMC.

Sharing more information on the same, Mohapatra said: "We wanted to make it more informative and interactive for citizens and tourists who want to know more about our city through this website."

The website now contains new elements like links to youtube, Facebook and other informative videos and tabs. It also has a column of events where every event of AMC will be updated.
