Normal life hit in coastal areas of Tamil Nadu

Heavy rain lashed over coastal Tamil Nadu affecting normal life with weathermen predicting more thundershowers during the next 24 hours starting at 8am today.
 
"Due to upper air circulation, coastal areas of the state have received heavy rains. Moderate to very heavy rain would occur at many places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next 24 hours", Met officials here said.
 
Nagapattinam coastal area received highest rain of six cm among other districts of the state.
 
Most of the schools in coastal areas had declared holiday today as rain continued to batter affecting normal life, official sources said.

Rain or thundershower would occur in some areas in Chennai, Met officials said.
 
Meanwhile, a Rameswaram report said heavy rains lashed the island disrupting normal life in and around the famous Ramanathaswamy temple. Some parts of the temple was under sheets of water, official sources said.
 
The sea was rough, they said.
 
Coast guard helicopter had been pressed into service to monitor the situation, the sources said.
