The Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising the TRS and other parties withdrew the bandh call on the Telangana issue today following an appeal made by Christian organistions in view of Christmas celebrations.

The two-day bandh call was given by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti yesterday after Centre decided to put the statehood issue on the backburner.

Large number of devotees were seen at various churches in Hyderabad and other districts in Telangana today following the decision to relax the bandh call.

However, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) restrained from resuming its full services from Hyderabad, especially to the coastal Andhra and Rayalseema regions, fearing attacks by protesters.

The RTC authorities are likely to take a call on resuming the services later in the day after consultations with the police.

Meanwhile, a report from Mahaboobnagar said the agitators set afire a godown of the Civil Supplies Department in the district early today.

The JAC would meet later in the day to chalkout its future course of action on organising the protests over the Centre's move to hold further consultations on statehood demand.
