"We have intensified the operations for searching the boy," senior superintendent of Police Vinit Vinayak said.

The chief minister had called the Additional Director General of Police Neelmani, Vinayak and city SP Manu Maharaj and directed them to ensure recovery of the boy as early as possible.

Preliminary investigation has revealed land dispute behind the incident, Vinayak said.

Shresth Sanjay (Shreya), a class 1 student, was kidnapped on Monday by three motorcycle-borne youths when he was on his way to Christ Church school from his residence at Kankerbagh colony.

The trio intercepted a car, carrying him and other students, and took away the boy, son of a private firm official Sanjay Srivastava, at gunpoint.

Meanwhile, parents and relatives of the boy are running from one temple to another praying for his safe return.

"We are now depending on the Almighty God and are holding prayers day and night for return of Shreya," a relative confided.
