Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today renewed his demand for constitution of State Re-organisation Commission (SRC) for looking into the demands for smaller states.

"The SRC be constituted to look into the demands for smaller states," Kumar told reporters here.

He made this demand when mediapersons sought his comment on the political situation in Jharkhand.

Stating that it should be kept in mind that the smaller states being formed should have an effective strength of around 150 members in the state assembly, Kumar said it would ensure formation of a government which should be in a position to complete five-year tenure.

"In states where the House doesn't have enough strength, the political instability continues as mere shift of a vote or two tilt the equation and numerical strength in favour or against a government," he said.

Kumar said it would take some more time for a state like Jharkhand to "politically and socially grow," but he had all good
wishes of the people of that area.

"I have also conveyed my best wishes to Arjun Munda during telephonic conversation with the latter," Kumar said.

He informed that Munda had telephone him to invite him (Kumar) to participate in the oath-taking function for the new Jharkhand government tomorrow.

"I hope the new government will follow a common programme and will be able to complete rest of the term of the state assembly," Kumar said.
