Both parties pledged to continue their alliance at both national and state level and discussed joint poll strategies and seat sharing formula between them for the coming assembly polls in Bihar, sources said.
The NDA allies in Bihar - JD(U) and BJP - today sought to put behind their differences and put up a united face in the forthcoming assembly polls following a meeting between chief mMinister Nitish Kumar and top BJP leaders.
"A friendly atmosphere has been established between the BJP and JD(U) following the chief minister's meeting with the core BJP leaders," BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar told reporters after the meeting.
The JD(U)-BJP ties in the state had hit a low when the chief minister objected to an advertisement in local dailies showing Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and him holding hands coinciding with the BJP national executive meeting here.
Kumar had also taken exception to another advertisement in which Modi had highlighted Rs five crore flood relief given to the Bihar government. Kumar had subsequently returned the cheque.
Following this, the BJP sought to distance itself from the 'Viswas' yatra spearheaded by the chief minister.
Ananth Kumar said the two parties decided to work on a joint strategy for the upcoming polls in the state.
Earlier, Nitish Kumar met senior BJP leaders including Arun Jaitley, Ananth Kumar, Dharmendra Pradhan and Ravi Shankar Prasad at the residence of state BJP president CP Thakur.
A cautious Thakur, while speaking to reporters, parried a question whether Modi would campaign in Bihar saying details would be known only after preparing a list of leaders for the purpose.
The chief minister had earlier objected to Modi campaigning in the state.
